Green Tea

Green Tea, like black tea and white tea, is also harvested from the Camellia Sinesis plant. But Green Tea leaves are processed differently than black tea leaves and differently between Chinese and Japanese cultures. The Chinese prefer to harvest whole tea leaves through an Orthodox method and pan fire the leaves. Japanese-styled teas are harvested as smaller pieces of the leaves through a process called CTC (Cut-Tear-Curl). These smaller leaves are then steamed.

The Camellia Sinesis plant naturally contains caffeine. The amount of caffeine in Green Tea is generally around 20mg per 8oz cup. Green Tea should be prepared using non-boiling water (around 190 degrees Fahrenheit/ 87 Celcius) and 1 teaspoon per 8oz cup. Each of the Serene Teaz Green Tea options include specific steeping instructions.
